Oryx-X

The Oryx-X is the same design as the Oryx-SA, but is made from ECOPAK® EPX200 (Challenge Sailcloth) or VX21 (X-Pac), a laminated fabric that is considered the gold standard for ultralight packs worldwide.  The material is waterproof and comes in a wide range of funky colours. If you are looking for an ultra-durable fabric for a pack that is going to be used daily or for thru-hikes, then this is the pack for you. Due to the time required for importing, the lead time on these packs is longer (2 to 6 weeks). We sometimes have stock of limited colours, which will reduce lead times, so give us a shout to find out what we have. Please note that this fabric is slightly heavier than the ripstop nylon, and as a result, the packs are marginally heavier.

• Large stretch front pocket for quick access to often used gear/food
• Stretch cord for wet or loose gear
• Cord can be re-threaded to carry a long rolled-up pad vertically
• Adjustable loops for drying socks or securing long items such a trekking poles
• Flat felled seam on front panel to improve waterproofing

• Threaded stretch cord with tensioner on side pockets to easily secure water bottles

• Removable and adjustable back-pad can be moved for increased air flow and comfort
• Back-pad doubles as comfy sit pad
• Hip belt is removable

Technical details

• Main pack material: ECOPAK EPX 200 laminated recycled fabric, or X-Pac VX21 depending on colours and availability.
• Stretch pockets: Heavy duty spandex (20%) / nylon (80%)
• EVA 45 closed cell foam with high memory in hip belt
• Combination of EVA 45 and softer EVA33 closed cell foam (laminated) with high memory for shoulder straps
• Stitching: Core spun polyester thread with 22.4N tensile strength. 10 stitches per inch, triple stitching on pack seams, flats felled seam on front panel to improve water resistance
• Total pack weight varying between 900g and 980g (excl. optional extras). Hip belt size has a big impact on overall pack weight.
• 34l Pack Volume: Internal 30l + external pocket (up to 4 l) = 34 l, water bottle pockets volume (1.2 l each) excluded
• 44l Pack Volume: Internal 40 l + external pocket (up to 4 l) = 44 l, water bottle pockets volume (1.3 l each) excluded
• 52l Pack Volume: Internal 47 l + external pocket (up to 5 l) = 52 l, water bottle pockets volume (1.5 l each) excluded
• NOTE: Pack volumes may appear small, but the pack retains stiffness and comfort by packing the pack full. Thus, the design intention is that one doesn't have spare space in the pack below the shoulder strap. Variable space is achieved with the roll-top closure.
• This is the true volume of the pack and should not necessarily be compared with big brand backpack volumes. In many cases the volumes stated by some brands are, shall we say, optimistic.
